LACREON® Technology vs HydraLuxe® Technology: What's the Difference?
Both LACREON® and HydraLuxe® are Johnson & Johnson moisture technologies in their daily disposable lens lines. They serve the same core purpose — keeping lenses comfortable throughout the day — but work differently and are optimized for different lens materials.
LACREON® Technology (1-Day Acuvue Moist)
LACREON® Technology permanently embeds a polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) wetting agent throughout the Etafilcon A hydrogel lens material. PVP is chemically locked into the lens matrix rather than applied as a surface coating, so it remains active throughout the daily wear period without washing away or degrading. Designed for Etafilcon A's 58% water content, providing comfort over up to 14 hours of daily wear.
HydraLuxe® Technology (Acuvue Oasys 1-Day)
HydraLuxe® Technology integrates a network of tear-like molecules designed to interact with and reinforce the natural tear film on the lens surface. It creates an interconnected moisture network supporting the tear film's three-layer structure — particularly effective in air-conditioned environments or during prolonged screen use.
